This two-day course will be held at JPL - Pasadena, California on June 11th and 12th 2009. If you would like to participate, please contact Robert.F.Jarnot@jpl.nasa.gov

This course is likely to include:

  • Introductory presentations and tutorials to get new users started with CASPER.
  • Hands-on tutorials
  • Advanced uses and digging into the CASPER toolflow.
  • Get all your "How would I... " or "Why does it... " questions answered.
  • Presentations from existing CASPER hardware users.
  • Reports on first ROACH deployments.
  • Hear about the future of CASPER and what we have planned for the next year.

Before You Attend

If you are unfamiliar with the CASPER tools, you might want to visit Getting Started with CASPER to get a feel for the CASPER design philosophy and how it might help you to meet your science goals.

If you are interested in learning how CASPER hardware and tools might be suitable for a specific instrumentation project, please feel free to prepare details of what you're aiming for. We are eager to spend time discussing potential projects with participants -- this will probably be far more valuable than the structured parts of the workshop.

1:45 PM - 2:30 PM But how do I do this REALLY?

How does one actually go about using the CASPER tools? In this session, we will go over the processes of identifying an extant design similar to your project goals, downloading the design from the CASPER Website / SVN, experimenting with the design and modifying to meet your specific needs. (Glenn Jones)

Computing Requirements

Participants will need to bring a laptop computer, preferably with an external mouse to aid working with XILINX/Simulink design tools. Participants will also need to ensure they have a remote desktop protocol (RDP) client installed on their system, as this will be used to access the build systems hosting design tools.
